How to help out

Don't worry too much about making mistakes! Just jump right in!

You can start by creating an account.

Things to do

Here are a few things we're always doing and will always need help with:

  • Checkout the list of wanted pages for frequently linked-to articles that don't exist yet. Click on one to get started.
  • Find an interesting article in the list of lonely pages, and insert links to that article in other pages.
  • Find an article in the list of dead-end pages, and add links to other articles throughout that article.
  • Try improving the pages that need expanding. Alternatively, you can insert the stub template into one of the shorter pages, which will add it to the list of pages that need expanding.
  • If you find an off-topic article or an article that mostly repeats another article, you can insert the delete template to mark it as a candidate for deletion.

NOTE: Most of these links are available in the navigation bar at the top of every page.

Other ways to help

If none of that sounds right for you, then there are lots of other ways you can help:

  • Proofread any articles you read.
  • Insert links to other articles throughout an article.
  • Add to existing articles, or start new articles. Even if it's something unlike anything we currently have, go ahead!
  • Trim-down wordy articles. This is an encyclopedia; all articles should be written in a "just the facts, ma'am" style. Remove unnecessary adjectives, adverbs, flighty phrases, and off-topic paragraphs.
  • Beside the "Edit" button at the top of each page, you can find the "Talk" button, which will take you to the article's Talk page. You can use an article's Talk page as a safe way to call-out problems, make suggestions, or discuss potentially controversial edits.

Other useful technical pages

New to wikis?

  • If you are new to wikis, you may want to read the official Fandom tutorial at Community Central.
  • A list of most help pages can be found in Category:Help.
  • If you want your articles to look top-notch, you could also checkout the Wikipedia Manual of Style.
  • If you're not sure what is allowed on the Duke Nukem Wiki, you can read the rules, but apart from using common sense, you probably don't need to know all the rules to get started!
