Duke Nukem: Proving Grounds was planned to be the second or third installment of the Duke Nukem Trilogy for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable handhelds, following Duke Nukem: Critical Mass. However, multiple production halts due to a licensing conflict between 3D Realms and Gearbox Software ultimately led to the game's cancellation.
